A Coordinated Regional Upgrade

For Health & Demographic Surveillance

Multi-centric clinical cohorts, national registries, and Health and Demographic Surveillance Systems (HDSS) across Africa provide the baseline intelligence for global health security. Yet, many sites remain crippled by legacy software dependencies that trap data in unnormalized formats, triggering months of data-cleaning delays.

We do not sell software subscriptions. Instead, we secure high-level international health security and data-strengthening grants to completely overhaul your field pipelines, migrate your historical data, and deploy sustainable technology on your campus — at zero cost to your institution.

End-to-end operational upgrade

Sites accepted into the LongData SDMP cohort receive an end-to-end operational upgrade funded entirely through multi-sectoral global health grants.

01

Complete Legacy Data Migration

LongData field engineers construct custom data-ingestion scripts to safely extract, map, and transform up to 20 years of your historical ODK, XForm, or flat-file datasets into a clean, natively normalized MySQL relational schema — preserving historical data integrity with zero records lost.

Custom ingestion pipelines are built per site, mapping every legacy field onto the normalized schema. Validation reports are delivered before cutover so your PI can sign off record-by-record.
02

On-Premise Server Calibration

Our technical team travels directly to your campus or institution to optimize your local Apache/MySQL server environments. We establish a secure, ruggedized server architecture that keeps your health data 100% sovereign within national boundaries.

On-site for the cutover. Hardware sizing, OS hardening, MySQL tuning, HTTPS certificate issuance, automated nightly backups, and an uninterruptible power supply plan — all configured before field teams ever touch a device.
03

Device-Agnostic, Capped-Sync PWA Suite

Full deployment of the LongData offline-first Progressive Web App (PWA). Field teams can launch the survey engine via a simple URL on any mobile device. Your site gains unlimited project and data collector capacity with zero scaling fees.

Bring your own device. Android, iOS, or desktop browser — the install is a URL. Capped-sync guarantees that no device can monopolize bandwidth during peak hours.
04

Local Capacity Building & Technical Handoff

We conduct intensive, on-site technical workshops for your internal IT administrators and field supervisors, ensuring your local team has the exact web-server skills needed to maintain the platform independently for decades.

Decades, not grant cycles. The handoff curriculum covers server admin, schema extensions, PWA updates, sync troubleshooting, and disaster recovery — leaving your institution fully self-sufficient.
Eligibility Audit

Who Qualifies for the Modernization Cohort?

The SDMP cohort is open to established and newly initializing surveillance platforms in sub-Saharan Africa. We prioritize applications from sites experiencing the following structural bottlenecks.

Extended Analytical Lag

Research sites where data analysts spend more than two weeks cleaning, merging, and transforming raw field sheets before epidemiological analysis can begin.

DevOps Resource Constraints

Sites currently struggling to maintain heavy open-source software containers (Docker, Kubernetes, heavy Java environments) on local servers due to regional power or IT support limitations.

Expansion Blindspots

Greenfield territories or emerging research tracks planning a longitudinal cohort but lacking the initial funding to build resilient informatics infrastructure from scratch.
